I like the customisation of Pathfinder but skills and feats can make characters over-complicated. Just making an attribute roll to do stuff is much nicer. It's a shame skills went from being a little bonus to fill out a characters backround in 1st and 2nd edition to the sprawling mess of current day. Feats just seem to give the abilities which your class should have built in anyhow. A rigid class structure gives a firm sense of character role and who they are rather than the "dipping" that can occur, and the focus on stats rather than the player fleshing out character's personality is pretty dull too. Less worrying about the numbers and sticking to a 20 level build programme should lead to more fun all round. Especially me because I'm the one statting out NPC's and building stuff so less time number crunching is more time creating cool stuff.
Looks like you may be ditching Pathfinder Basic, eh? I totally agree with the sentiment though, no school like the old school!
